The opening to a story?

Write something you would like to read. Just start writing then check if you have put the techniques in and if not put them in otherwise you will just cram a load of nonsense in. Try to have a really dramatic opening someone trapped, escaping, talking etc. If you can't invent a character base bits of it on yourself or characters you have liked or whatever on tv. You need to plan first though: whats your plot, genre, characters like? I'd suggest a brainstorm or whatever it is your supposed to call them just to help you get some ideas down...Good luck!!
