Help! I can't open the secret staircase in the library on Astro-Knight Island in Poptropica!?

That blue tile you press in the library (the one by the McM sign) to open the secret stairwell won't let me click it! The little pointer arrow mouse thingy doesn't even change! Is there something I have to do or get first? Please help me!!!!!
