Apparently my parents aren't suppose to get me anything for my 18th bday?

yea that's what my friend said.my bday is a week away and i was mentioning something to her about how id like them to get me this book, or an itunes giftcard. she laughed and said no they shouldn't, you should provide for yourself. she said her parents aren't getting her anything. her parents don't buy her much stuff except for bdays, and stuff. i guess now since we're seniors she doesn't expect them to buy her anything. she has a job, but still my parents buy me a few things now and again.im still in high school ill start to provide for myself when i graduate!geez. i was explaining to her well its my special day, and gift kinda makes me feel good. wadda u think?
